The building that houses the Valemount Museum is turning 100 years old in 2014. The historic building was originally built as a railway station, for the Swift Creek settlement. The Valemount Museum and Archives is operated by the Valemount Historic Society, a non-profit and registered charity. The Society was incorporated in 1981. The original railway station was moved in 1987 and opened as the Valemount Museum in 1992. Finally it was designated a Heritage building.
